Gigi d Agostino

Ce nom ne vous dit surement rien mais pourtant ses musiques sont connues surtout une qui est la reprise de Jacno "rectangle" et qui s'intitule "la passion"...
Gigi d’Agostino, né le 17 décembre 1967 à Turin, est un disc-jockey italien.
Dès sa plus tendre enfance, Gigi avait déjà le désir de réaliser son rêve : celui d’entrer dans le grand monde de la musique de discothèque… C’est chose faite en commençant sa carrière de disc jockey en 1983, à seulement 16 ans : il anime alors des soirées dans des bals populaires, tout en travaillant comme maçon pour gagner sa vie. Il est ensuite engagé dans le club le Woodstock de Turin, puis, de 1993 à 1998, comme résident à L’Ultimo Impero.

Après de nombreux succès comme en 1995 avec «Sweetly», il entre dans l’équipe de Gianfranco Bortolotti, manager général de la maison de disques Media Records. Le single «Fly», sorti au début de l’année 1996 sous l’étiquette BXR noise maker (l’étiquette crée spécialement par la Media Records pour le genre Mediterranean Progressive), rejoint le top des ventes de singles en Italie.

C’est ainsi qu’aboutit un de ses grands projet : Gigi D'Agostino, un album contenant 19 titres, avec entres autres les singles «Gigi’s violin» et «Angel‘s symphony» qui connaissent tous deux le succès à travers l’Europe.

Dés lors, la musique de Gigi commence à changer, mais plus qu’un vrai changement, on peut parler d’une évolution portée par des expériences vécues. Ses chansons sont davantage mélodiques, avec des sonorités énergiques et emballant, des mélodies et des rythmes moins obsessionnels et répétitifs, situés entre la House et la Progressive.

En 1997 sort « Gin Lemon » puis, l'année suivante, c’est au tour de « Elisir (Your love)», un des titres les plus dansés en Italie durant l’année 1998. En 1999 Gigi lance « Cuba libre » suivit du mythique « Bla Bla Bla »,extrait de l'albumTanzen : c’est encore le succès, tout comme l’est son double CD « L’Amour toujours » sorti pendant l’hiver 1999/2000 qui contient un nouveau morceau inédit «Another way». et qui le fait entrer directement à la 10e place des ventes en Italie (Disque de Platine) et numéro 1 en Autriche.
« Le verbe est le rythme, la phrase est le corps, l’évolution est la partie tribale qui reste en chacun d’entre nous ».

Gigi est nommé DJ producteur de l’année aux dernières éditions des Red Bull Awards, c’est la consécration européenne : Espagne, France, Suède, Allemagne, Angleterre…

Pendant l’année 2000, Gigi vend 1 million d’albums en Allemagne, et 230 000 en France. Il sort en outre deux E.P. «Tecno Fes» en août et «Tecno Fes volume 2» en décembre. Son single «La passion» est numéro un dans de nombreux pays européens.

En 2001 à l’issue d’une collaboration avec Albertino (speaker sur une grande radio italienne), sort «Super», qui lui vaut le titre de meilleur producteur Dance au PIM (Prix Italien de la Musique) et au Public Award Danish DJ’s Awards à Copenhague. En 2004, sa compilation Euro Dance s'écoule a 120 000 exemplaires,et il sort un nouveau double CD L'Amour Toujours2,suite de l'opus sorti en 1999. Il crée en 2006 son propre label Noise Maker Hard.
